Prairie Brand Seed products containing any
seed with Monsanto patented traits or seeds,
including conventional seed containing a
Monsanto or Monsanto Affiliate germplasm
patent may not be saved to plant again.
Planting saved seed with these traits is a
patent infringement against Monsanto
and is against the law.
Benefits of New Seed
Versus Bin Run
Purchasing new seed is a convenient way to ensure
access to the most elite germplasm. Buying new seed also
ensures a reliable supply of elite germplasm across all
maturities. New seed yields an average of 1.8 bushels
per acre more than bin run. In addition, planting rates
for bin run seed are generally 15% higher than new,
professionally cleaned seed. Buying new seed gives you
access to company provided agronomic support before and
after the sale. With the purchase of Roundup® brand
herbicide, you can participate in the Roundup Rewards®
program, which has paid out over $500 million to growers
since 1997. Purchasing new seed supports development
of new traits and higher yielding germplasm. Monsanto
research and development invested over $588 million
in 2005.
